Mark Skeehan founded S&Y in 2014 after spending years at Deloitte & Touche and in private industry finance. The idea was simple: nonprofits deserve the same caliber of financial leadership that for-profit companies take for granted. Early on, one YMCA engagement turned into two, then five, then twenty. It wasn't a marketing strategy — it was a referral chain built on results. Each Y that saw what a real financial partnership could look like told the next one.
Today S&Y serves 20+ organizations across six states, ranging from $1.6M to $54.7M in annual revenue — including 20 YMCAs. The firm made a deliberate bet: go deep in one sector instead of wide across many. That bet means every member of the team understands nonprofit fund accounting, grant compliance, Daxko, and the rhythm of a YMCA fiscal year. No ramp-up, no learning curve.
